In case you're curious, here's how we make this dress:
I make a sketch. We design and carve our block printing stamps and use them to hand-print the softest most cozy GOTS-certified organic cotton jersey with solvent free ink.
Then we take the fabric to our wonderful contractor, Rose, in downtown LA, to have a pattern and sample made. We take it home for fittings and adjustments. Once we have the final version, we take it to the lovely Karol to get it graded in all sizes- also in downtown LA. Back to Rose were Philippe cuts the fabric, and the ladies in the shop sew it all together.
When the dress is assembled, we take it to a dye house, once again in DTLA, and get it dyed with our custom color. Then we take it back to Rose for the final touches- buttons and labels. Finally, it's trimmed and pressed by Jimmy.
Knowing every step of the way and knowing all the people that are involved in making the dress, and all our clothes, feels so right. It's exactly how we want our business to be. Want more detail? Reach out to us at info (at) maluorganic (dot) com.
Peace and love,
